Cameras
Here you’ll find a list of cameras I currently use.
Digital cameras
Canon EOS 400D
Used since:
August 2007
Description:
My primary (and only) digital camera. Also my first Canon camera. I bought it based on size, user interface and available lenses, as I wasn’t tied to any system at that point. Overal I really like it, though the small size is limiting somewhat (especially now I’ve handled the larger size through my film EOS 30). If I had to make the same decision right now, I might buy the 40D instead, but the difference isn’t big enough to warrant a change now. Quality-wise, I’m more than satisfied.

Film Cameras
Canon EOS 30
Used since:
May 2008
Description:
My luxury film body, primarily used for landscapes and holiday picture-making. I bought this second hand for only 35 euros. Ain’t digital great? I chose the EOS 30 over cheaper or more expensive cameras as it struck the right balance between features, price and weight. Important factors were a good pentaprism viewfinder (as opposed to pentamirror on cheaper cameras) and mirror lockup. The fact that the EOS 3 and 1V both lack the cursor keys for quick AF-point selection also played a role.
Overall, I’m very satisfied with this camera. If I had to pick something, the only thing I’d like more is spot metering
And maybe weather-sealing, though I’ve used it in the rain and never had any problems.

Miranda MS2 Super
Used since:
2005
Description:
My first serious camera (before this, I only had a simple fixed-everything film P&S), given to me by my grandfather, who in turn got it as a present when he retired.
It’s not a very special camera, it’s got aperture priority AE, or full manual control through a cumbersome pushbutton system, center-weighted average metering, exposure compensation can be done through messing with the ISO control.
Nowadays it’s my `carry-always’ camera, which permanently resides in a side-pocket of my backpack. To this end, I’ve replaced the standard 35-70mm zoom with a Pentax 50mm, which gives a very compact package.
